12/9/09, MEP Designs' Engineers - eQUEST Qualified
The professional engineers of MEP Designs recently completed training in eQuest Whole Building Energy
Analysis for New and Existing Buildings.  eQuest enables our engineers to perform detailed analysis of
building designs and technologies to estimate annual energy usage and cost for the building model.  
Using eQuest, MEP Designs' engineers will evaluate energy saving technologies on the MEP systems
and building envelope against the baseline model of ASHRAE 90.1 MEP Designs engineers are also
trained in the use of Carrier Hourly Analysis Program (HAP) 4.4 which is used to evaluate energy usage
particularly for heating and air conditioning systems.

the Washington, DC area’s top architects, engineers, and designers.







3/17/09, MEP Designs Awarded Dulles Metrorail Engineering Contract
MEP Designs was awarded a contract to provide plumbing and electrical engineering design and
construction administration services for the pre-cast plant, for Phase 1 of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail
Extension Project.  The planned pre-cast yard site is located on approximately 20 acres adjacent to
Dulles Airport, where concrete components for aerial construction of the extension will be
manufactured.

3/4/09, MEP Designs Provides Engineering Design for Takoma Park Library Renovation
The historical Takoma Park Library located at 416 Cedar Street, NW recently completed an extensive
“makeover." MEP Designs provided engineering design services for the 8,500 SF  Library building,
consisting of a new fire alarm system, new lighting, power, data, and communications systems;  and
HVAC and plumbing systems upgrades.









2/2/09, LEED Accreditation
Sam Abdelfattah, President of MEP Designs, became a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
(LEED) accredited professional. MEP Designs is currently engaged in two Green Building projects
working towards LEED-certification:
VFW Post 7327 in partnership with Forum International
Islamic Community of Maryland Projects in partnership with N.M. Abdalla Architects

1/27/09, Colgan Power Sports
The Colgan Power Sports on Route 28
and Wellington Road is now open.  MEP
Designs provided the mechanical,electrical,
and plumbing engineering for the retail
shop, service department, and storage.
